RESTAURANTS

Champagne Bistro

We had a nice lunch at Champagne Bistro in the Orange Grove Shopping Center (with parking!) The restaurant is next to Select Wine and Sylvain (owner of Select and part owner of Champagne) supplies some fine wines to the restaurant. Martha had this lovely tuna tartare ($18).

I had a flank steak ($19) that was tasty and a glass of pinot noir from the Loire. The total bill with water and my wine was $49.

Mezza Luna

We went to lunch at Mezza Luna on Saturday (but never on Sunday as they are closed). In addition to a rather nice menu, they have a pizza menu and they make their own pasta. Martha had a special, saltimbocca: veal, prosciutto, and sage, generally rolled, but not in this case it was layered ($26) on a bed of their own pasta.

I also had a pasta dish, in this case, from the menu. The preparation had lots of veal cut into half inch bits ($25). We had a bottle of Cotes-du-Rhone from Chapoutier. Well worth the $26.
