Simpson Bay Feature
This shot was taken from the Cakehouse Road shortcut from Philipsburg to Cole Bay. All of Cole Bay is in the foreground and Simpson Bay is on the left. Most photos will enlarge, if clicked. Use your back button to return.

This shot was taken from the same location, but zoomed in a bit on Simpson Bay. These people made this feature possible.
Simpson Bay has one of the longest beaches with the least development on the island. On the other side of this spit of land is the lagoon. In between is plenty of activity.
This Simpson Bay Lagoon panoramic watercolor print is one of the most popular
prints on the island. Of course who hasn't been sitting in traffic looking
at this magnificent view? Jill Alexander, a local artist, has created a
series of prints called "Island Images". They are available at Greenwith
Gallery, Philipsburg, Camaieu Gallery, Marigot, The Shipwreck Shops, or from
the artist directly. Many original paintings are also available. Visit her
website to see more.
The western edge of Simpson Bay is essentially Mullet to the north, Maho in the center, and Beacon HIll on the south. Mullet is still closed from Hurricane Luis in 95, but Maho is thriving, even building new hotel/timeshare rooms. Moreover, there are many restaurants and shops.
Paris Bistro is a corner of Paris in Maho featuring the freshest seafood on an open air terrace. There's a coupon on their website.

Across the street, behind Cheri's is the Morning Life Bakery, open early, and next door to that is Night Off wine and cheese bar, open late!
Behind these two and only opening at 10 PM is the Platinum Room featuring the finest in SXM adult entertainment.
Bamboo Bernies provided this sunset shot and can provide lots of other shots (photographic and otherwise) plus sushi, ribs, etc. Moreover, they are free between 5 and 5:30 and very cheap until about 7PM. Great for sunset watching!
And that brings us to the airport terminal, soon to be the new airport terminal.
Café Juliana is several steps above the airport and several steps above ordinary airport food, but alas, will not be moving to the new terminal

During the Simpson Bay contest (3 July to 13 August 2006) The Horny Toad Guesthouse offered seven low season nights for the price of five. Tom Van Veghel will be on this beach and take his own fabulous sunset photo.
Right next door is the Azure Guesthouse offering the same great sunset views and access to Simpson Bay Beach. A little further down the street is the Turquoise Shell Inn. It's across the street from the beach, but it has a pool. Their prize of seven nights for the price of five was won by Susan Price.
Unity Car Rental is giving $100 off their posted weekly rates to their contest winner. Debra Lindholm will be driving this hot Mustang convertible around Simpson Bay at a bargain rate because she won Unity's contest.

Here is a panorama to the east, from Pelican Resort to Royal Palm.

Here is a panorama to the west, from Mary's Boon, across the Airport construction to Beacon Hill.

Tri Sport, just west of the Dutch bridge, has kayak and bike rentals. They will be part of a contest after this one. The kayaks can take you out to Explorer Island in the lagoon and even out to the ocean for more adventure.
There's lots more dining in Simpson Bay. Starting at the bridge and heading east we find
Ryan Halsey and wife Jessica providing an innovative yet unpretentious dining experience at Halsey's Restaurant.
SkipJack's Restaurant was voted best new restaurant on the island, partially because of this great lagoon view, partially because of great, fresh seafood.
La Guinguette Restaurant at Princess Resort has both a $20 and a $25 prix fixe three course meal. The regular menu has pastas and many seafood courses plus chops and steaks. Get all this and a great view of the marina. Jeanine Penta got $60 off a dinner for two.
Celine goes out for her Lagoon Pub Crawl several nights per week and is available for other charters as well.
Capt Morgan, a 65 foot Morgan, goes out for a grand day on the water, sailing from the Princess Marina out of the lagoon and around to the French side for a day of snorkeling with lunch and drinks included.
Random Wind, is a bit smaller, and does a similar journey with 14 people max. The Random Wind empire includes a couple other boats, so take a look at their website for full details. The dolphin was spotted on one of their sails.
Across the street from Marci's gym is Endless Summer Swimwear.
A short walk away from the bridge is Good Cards, known for an eclectic collection of greeting cards and lots more, also eclectic.
Over the bridge and down Billy Folly Road to Flamingo Resort finds Royal Caribbean Jewelers.
Also down Billy Folly Road is Bec Fin Restaurant, one of SXM's oldest restaurant's, serving fine French with a viedw of Simpson Bay.
A bit further, at Pelican Resort is Los Gauchos Restaurant, one of the island's newer restaurants, serving Argentine beef and more in a waterfront location with an outdoor terrace. There's a coupon on their website.

Pack Light Rentals supplies cell phones, snorkel gear, beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, and more. As the airlines reduce baggage allowances and increase overweight fees it makes sense to pack light and travel easy. Pack Light Rentals is located in this area, but it doesn't matter as they deliver whatever you want to you at the airport or your hotel. That's right, no hassle heading in the wrong direction to get whatever you have ordered. Craig will deliver to you. Even better, he has posted new lower rates on his website: GSM cell phones for $20 PER WEEK. To kick off this promotion, he offered a free phone for a week and Jeanine Penta won it.
If you are driving around the island, the next location to the east is Philipsburg or head around the lagoon clockwise through Maho Bay and Mullet Bay to Cupecoy and the Lowlands or head counter-clockwise to Marigot.
